Lamanai Mayan Ruin and Jungle River Adventure

Embark on an exciting Lamanai River Experience that commences with a brief 20-minute flight to Tower Hill (Orange Walk), followed by a scenic 10-minute drive through sugar cane fields leading to the picturesque banks of the New River. Upon arrival, step aboard a boat and indulge in a captivating journey through mangroves and swamp savannah. Along the way, encounter a diverse array of wildlife, including monkeys, birds, bats, turtles, and crocodiles, as you navigate towards the New River Lagoon and the ancient Lamanai Maya site.

Traverse through dense jungle terrain, gaining insights into Belizean bush medicine, and marvel at the impressive Maya monuments. Climbing the towering El Castillo Temple offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the lagoon. Keep your ears tuned for the distinctive howls of Howler Monkeys and keep an eye out for the vibrant colors of Toucans as you meander through the lush rainforest. The adventure continues with a visit to the museum, a delightful Belizean lunch (included), and an opportunity to peruse the gift shop, all before reboarding the boat for the return journey to San Pedro.

Ensure your comfort during the excursion by dressing in comfortable clothing, donning a hat, and bringing a spare set of dry clothes. ATM (Actun Tunichil Muknal) Cave Adventure

Experience the world renowned ATM Cave (as seen in National Geographic).  Your flight leaves San Pedro at 7:45AM for Belmopan.  A quick transfer takes you to the entrance of the Tapir Mountain Reserve, where the 45 minute rainforest hike crossing creeks and streams begins.  Next, a quick snack and orientation from your guide on cave history and preservation and safety before moving on to the cave entrance and Maya underworld.

The tour is filled with excitement and wonder as you swim and climb to the inner chamber filled with Maya pottery used for sacrifices.  The culmination of the tour is the Crystal Maiden, a young virgin sacrifice, and The Cathedral with its stalactite and stalagmite formations.

Return to Belmopan airstrip for your 4PM flight back to San Pedro.
